Step 1 — Run a wired speed test
Plug a laptop into your router with an Ethernet cable and run a test at fast.com. This is your baseline.
Step 2 — Run the same test on WiFi
Same spot, same device. If wired is fast but WiFi is slow, it's a WiFi/coverage problem — not your provider.
Step 3 — Test two rooms
Test in your best room and your worst room. Big drop = dead zones / interference / placement.
Step 4 — Note your provider + plan
