How to Stop Buffering While Streaming (For Good)

Published by Uplink Wireless | Serving Henderson County & East Texas

That spinning circle. The freeze right at the good part. The β€œloading” screen that makes you question every life decision. Buffering is the most universally hated internet experience β€” and in rural East Texas, it's practically a daily occurrence for many households.

But buffering isn't random. It has specific, diagnosable causes. And most of them are fixable without switching providers or spending a fortune.

Step-by-Step Buffering Fix

1

Test your actual speed

Run a speed test at fast.com. If you're getting less than 15 Mbps download, that's likely your problem.

2

Check how many devices are active

Every device on your network shares the same bandwidth.

3

Move closer to your router (or fix coverage)

If you're streaming in a room far from the router, your WiFi signal may be too weak.

4

Switch to 5 GHz WiFi

For streaming, always use 5 GHz if you're within range.

5

Reduce streaming quality temporarily

Dropping from 4K to 1080p or even 720p dramatically reduces buffering.
